The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started preparations for the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The franchises have also been informed. According to the schedule window for the PCB, the sixth edition of the PSL has to be done. So far no progress has been made in this regard but the PCB has declared it compulsory to conduct the sixth edition of PSL as per the schedule window.
PCB sources said that despite the difficult situation of Karuna this year, the PSL is compelled to conduct PSL in February, March 2021 as there is no other window available for PSL throughout the year. Due to the completion of the 3-year rights circle of the league, the PSL has to be held, while the second window is not available due to the successive series of the national cricket team next year.
Sources said that the PCB has informed the franchisees about all these compulsions for holding the PSL. On the other hand, the PCB has also started preparations for the PSL. A meeting will be held today regarding the categories of Pakistani players while the franchises will be able to trade the players as soon as the categories are decided. The retention of players in all the 6 teams will be announced in 10 days after which the teams will be able to retain 8 players for PSL 6 while the date of January 10 has been proposed for PSL drafting.
