According to Arif Hameed Bhatti, as a result of this development, NAB Peshawar has asked Justice R Javed Iqbal to turn the ongoing inquiry against Maulana Fazlur Rehman into an investigation as his arrest would be necessary in the light of the available evidence.
Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sent a 26-question questionnaire to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), alleging corruption. It was directed to submit answers by December 24. If the CM does not submit the answers to these questions, action will be taken against him according to law. According to sources, NAB has also asked Ibrar Ahmad, Muhammad Ramzan, Yasir, Haji Shehzada, Sharifullah, Taka Khan, Gul Asghar, Noor Asghar and Sher Bahadur about the affiliation of Maulana Fazlur Rehman or his party.
